Philips Innovation Campus Delivers Award Winning Video and Audio Technologies for the Global Marketplace

The Philips Innovation Campus (PIC) in Singapore continued success in designing and developing state-of-the-art products was recognized when it won five internationally-acclaimed innovation accolades at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2003 awards in Las Vegas.

Overall, Philips walked away with 19 awards, the most for any brand represented at CES 2003. Five of these were for products in the Video and Audio categories that were designed and developed at the PIC.

The award winners include the DVD760 which is the first player in the market to feature a Media Slot that is compatible with most memory card formats. The LX9000R is the first home theatre system that provides a full home theatre solution featuring DVD recording. The new system also has the innovative i.LINK Digital Video connection allowing users to connect their camcorders to make perfect copies from tape to a DVD+RW or DVD+R.

The winning technologies that were designed and developed at the PIC include:

A compelling imaging solution, the DVD760 is the first player in the market to feature a Media Slot that is nearly 100 percent compatible with all memory card formats. Exploring new dimensions in photo interactivity, the DVD760 features Picture CD playback and a Media Slot for versatile memory card applications.

Users will be able to view, enhance and organize their favorite images with the Philips Digital Photo Manager while sharing their memories with families and friends in the warm surroundings of the living room. Additionally, the player features a Digital Music Manager, which provides enhanced playlist management for extensive MP3 music collections.

Utilizing 3:2 pull-down progressive scan technology, the DVD760 provides crystal clear images. The player also features component video outputs and digital audio outputs ensuring the highest quality audio and video connectivity.

The new Philips DVD963SA offers video and audiophiles the latest in technology by featuring high quality progressive scan DVD-Video and high resolution Super Audio CD. This model supports Super Audio CD with an advanced base management system, providing optimal handling of sound reproduction differences between movies with their dramatic sound effects and high quality audio recording. In addition, the player breaks new ground by featuring a 192khz audio upsampling capability that provides four times the resolution from standard CDs. The player offers built-in DSD, Dolby Digital and DTS decoders. Internally, the player utilizes video and audiophile grade circuitry to ensure exceptionally detailed video and warm, textured sound.

To maximize video performance, the DVD963SA showcases Philips Crystal Clear Pro™ technology. This operating system combines the benefits of a robust 13 bit/108 MHz video processor with Digital Crystal Clear and Faroudja DCDi™ technology to offer consumers razor sharp, flicker free digital images without jagged edges or distortion. To ensure high compatibility with video display devices, the DVD963SA includes component, composite and S-Video outputs.

Philips LX9000R is the first home theater system to offer consumers a full home theater solution featuring DVD Recording. Combining DVD Recording with a high-end audio package, the LX9000R is the ultimate home theater solution, offering consumers all their home theater needs in one system.

The new system features a high performance DVD+RW Recorder boasting six hours of recording per disc from a wide range of video sources, including the integrated TV tuner.
