New CEO for Philips Electronics Singapore

Leading electronics company, Philips, has appointed Mr Mourad Mankarios as Chairman & CEO of Philips Electronics Singapore, responsible for the general management of Philips activities in Singapore with effect from 1 January 2003.

Mr Mankarios started his career in Bell Canada in Toronto in the areas of IT, operations and regulatory environment. From 1981-1985, he was Vice President for international projects in the Arabian Gulf area. He joined Philips in 1986, having held several senior managerial positions in various business operations and functions in the Middle East & Africa and the Netherlands.

Prior to his recent appointment in Singapore, Mr Mankarios was the Senior Vice President in the Corporate Center in Amsterdam responsible for the HR program within the Corporate Human Resources department.

With an international career of 17 years with Philips, Mr Mankarios brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. He succeeds Mr Johan van Splunter who continues in his present position as the President & Chairman of Philips Electronics Asia Pacific.
