Designed and developed at the Philips Innovation Campus in Singapore, this new range of LCD TVs consists of 3 screen sizes: 15 inch, 17 inch wide screen and 23 inch wide screen. "These LCD TVs are of special significance as the first 15,000 sets of varying sizes will be produced locally and exported to the European, American and Asian markets. Mass production of these models will take place in Philips' facilities in Europe and Asia," said Etienne Ducrot, Vice President & General Manager, Digital Mainstream TV. At the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2003 in Las Vegas, the 23 inch wide screen model won the Innovations 2003 Design & Engineering Showcase accolade in the Video Category.
With the latest advancements in picture and sound technology, this range of high definition LCD TVs (1280 x 768) with high resolution of 2.9 million pixels, provides outstanding picture brightness (450 nits) and contrast (400:1). Other features include Progressive scan, Active Control(TM) Plus+, Digital Crystal Clear(TM), Picture-in-picture, 7 display formats and 5 auto picture presets.
Its modern styling is complemented with robust speakers featuring Virtual Dolby(R) Surround and Incredible Surround sound. Equipped with FM radio and a multi-system TV tuner, these models can be mounted on a wall or placed upright using the matching arched tabletop stand. It also serves as a PC monitor with VGA input (WXGA).
The Philips Innovation Campus in Singapore, the largest development center for Philips outside of Europe, undertakes a wide array of development work.
