PHILIPS SAFERIDE LED REARLIGHT WINS EUROBIKE AWARD 2011
The award-winning Philips rear light offers better visibility, enhancing security on the road
Aachen, Germany – During the international bike fair on the 31st of August 2011, the Philips SafeRide LED RearLight LumiRing was honoured with the Eurobike Award 2011. The jury awarded a total of 59 out of 430 submitted products from 27 countries – outstanding design and superior product quality were the award categories. The Philips LED RearLight is mainly distinguished by the innovative LumiRing. The light ring, consisting of six high-powered LEDs, spreads the light in a way that it is also visible from the side. The angle of the rear light is around 320 degrees, allowing the bicyclist to be noticeable for other road users within a wide perspective. When the bike is in parking, for example at a stoplight or crossroad, the enhanced visibility of the dynamo-powered light is sustained throughout four consecutive minutes.
“We are very pleased that the international jury honours our commitment for more security on the road with the Philips SafeRide LED RearLight”, says Kevin de Graav, Marketing Manager Mobility, Philips. “It is not only important to see clearly in dense traffic, but also to be seen. Our years of experience in the automotive lighting sector as well as our know-how when it comes to LED lights offer all road users a better visibility for more security on the road.”
Submissions were possible for 17 categories. Among the evaluation criteria were the following: aerodynamics, efficiency, ergonomics, functionality, utility, design quality, weight, degree of innovation, comfort, loading, brand value/branding, choice of materials, service, safety, stability, environmental compatibility and workmanship.
All award-winning products will be exhibited at the Eurobike Special Exhibition at Foyer West from the 31st August until the 3rd of September 2011.
