iProstate: Innovation that helps fight a life-changing disease

Hearing that you are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness is one of the most impactful moments in a person’s life. Many people find themselves paralyzed by the emotional impact of hearing they have a life-threatening disease and the number and complexity of treatments they have available. For prostate cancer patients, this is especially true as its treatment involves a large number of medical specialists and clinical data.

We want to give patients the power to make the right decisions to best treat their illness. To this end, we envision iProstate, a data capturing and support tool that integrates all of the information on a cancer patient in one place.

Personalized treatment

Since 2009, we’ve been working on ways to monitor and manage prostate cancer. In consulting with clinicians about the challenges they face in fighting the disease, we envision a supporting tool that could simplify and streamline the time-consuming process of compiling important clinical information.

In developing iProstate, we aim to give clinicians the tools they need to easily manage all of the complex data around a patient’s cancer diagnosis and treatment. In order to facilitate collaboration between different medical departments to best formulate a cancer treatment, we’re aiming to give clinicians easy access to relevant data in one system.

Looking outwards

One of the most exciting aspects of the iProstate prototype is the personal benefit it could have for other kinds of cancer patients. The envisioned tool has the potential to be used in a variety of oncology wards - it could minimize the use of resources, and empower patients to make a well-informed choice for treatment that fits their personal preferences best. In that way, we can do our part to make a real positive difference in people’s lives.
