The world’s first green library

Named “My Tree House”, this one-of-a-kind children’s library is entirely eco-friendly from its shelving units to its sustainable lighting system by Philips, earning it the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award.

Co-created by the National Library Board (NLB) and City Developments Limited (CDL), in partnership with 11 other equally like-minded collaborators, ‘My Tree House’ was designed to make reading and learning about the environment enjoyable for the kids.

Energy-efficient LED lighting from Philips was installed to enhance reading comfort level with less overhead glare. The LED lighting was projected to achieve approximately 47% improvement in the lighting power consumption.
