New Generation UltraSound System

Monday, March 29, 2004

Doctors will now be able to see in real-time moving 3D images (also known as 4D), the various tiny internal organs of the unborn baby - thanks to the new Philips high-end Ultrasound System, the iU22.

Introduced to more than 500 obstetrics and gynecology specialists from Singapore and the region, as well as to the media, at the recent ISOUG International Scientific Meeting at the Raffles Convention Center, the iU22 is a revolutionary leap forward in ultrasound performance and workflo

Images are of such high resolution on the iU22 that clinicians can be very confident in their diagnosis. Previous 3D systems allow only a surface 3D scan of the unborn baby - which is useful for novelty snapshots of the baby but not much else - clinical wise. The iU22 on the other hand, with its new line of Explora high-performance transducers featuring breakthrough array configurations and ultra-high frequencies, allows clinicians to literally peel away layers of a 3D image to reveal what is inside. This will help doctors tremendously in the early detection of serious fetal abnormalities such as the heart and spinal developmen
