Functional but poor finish on external coatingI recently bought the DryCare Prestige Hairdryer from Metro at Centrepoint. When I took out the hairdryer to check after paying for it, had noticed that after removing the protective plastic bag containing the hairdryer, many parts of it were sticky and I thought it's the protective plastic bag that has some chemicals or what to protect the hairdryer and it can be easily cleaned off. However, after bringing home and my son subsequently took it out to use it in their room, he tried to clean off the sticky areas with a damp cloth, the sticky areas cannot be cleaned off and were complaining about it almost everyday. Today I had time and finally took a closer look and also had tried to clean the sticky areas and realised that it wasn't caused by the protective plastic bag containing the hairdryer but its the "Rubberised" coating of many parts of the hairdryer that is sort of melting and causing the stickiness. Finally, I tried using methylated spirit on a cloth and managed to slowly clean the sticky areas up but guess what, when it wasn't sticky at all, it was because I had cleaned up (removed) the layer of rubberised coating, and when that happened, even the model numbers and other markings came out with it as those markings were printed on the rubberised layer. I have been buying so many different electrical and household products from Philips over the years and this was the worst experience I ever had.
