How to install satellite channels? - General

    Published on 2017-12-27

    Checklist
    ensure that:
    • The satellite cable is firmly connected to the television and the wall socket

    Answer

When installing multiple satellites, start with step 1
When installing only one satellite, start with step 2

    1. Choose the number of satellites

By default the TV is set to one satellite. To install multiple satellites follow these steps:
    • Change the connection type. Press the “Home” button on the remote control of the TV and select:
[Setup] > [Search for satellite] > [Install channels] > [Settings] > [Connection Type]
    • Choose one of the following options:
    • DiSEqC 1.0 (3-4 LNBs)
    • DiSEqC Mini (2 LNBs)
Check on the manual or label of the DiSEqC Switch which option to select. When in doubt, try the setting DiSEqC 1.0 (3-4 LNBs). Please note that the TV only supports DiSEqC Mini and 1.0.

    • Select [Done] > [Start]
The TV will start a complete channel scan. This can take up to an hour, depending on the number of satellites. When the search is complete, the TV will display a message and show an overview of the found channels. Press OK to finish the installation.

    Unicable

Use these steps if the provider specifically mentions the satellite uses unicable

A unicable system (EN50494) can connect either one or two satellites, using only one cable.
    • Press the “Home” button on the remote control of the TV and select:
[Setup] > [Search for satellite] > [Install channels] > [Settings] > [Connection Type]

    • Choose and confirm the matching option:
    [Unicable for 1 satellite]
    [Unicable for 2 satellites]

The television will now display a list of user bands (UBs):
    UB0, UB1, UB2, UB3, UB4, UB5, UB6, UB7

If the provider uses a user band range between UB1 and UB8, the please detract 1 to match the UB numbering in the TV.

    • Choose a user band (UB) and press the ‘OK’ button
    • Enter the user-band-frequency , given by the cable service provider (xxxx.xxx MHz). It should be within the following range:
    Minimum frequency: 0950.000
    Maximum frequency: 2150.000
    • Press ‘OK’ to start the satellite search

    2. Search channels

To (re)install the channels, press the “Home” button on the remote control of the television and select:
[Setup] > [Search for satellite] > [install Channels]
    • After finding the satellites, confirm the installation with OK

Note: Some TVs will ask how to preorder the found channels. Choose one of the options and press OK.

Note for consumers in the United Kingdom:
    • Televisions are almost always sold with only a DVB-T tuner.
    • If the television has no DVB-S tuner, a Set-top box is needed to view satellite channels, usually in combination with a Sky Subscription
