Industry Views: The Importance of Upgrading Valuable Medical Equipment

At-a-glance:

  • What do healthcare leaders want from their equipment?
  • What does ‘staying up-to-date’ mean for healthcare?
  • How do upgrades make a difference to patients? How can standardization of medical equipment make a difference?

Healthcare is a fast paced, dynamic industry where the latest innovations play a key role in enabling clinicians to perform at their best, delivering better care to more people.

And yet, the speed of change has never been higher making it vitally important that healthcare providers are able to keep their sophisticated technology investments up-to-date, clinically advanced and with the security it needs.

In this video, healthcare experts come together to discuss the importance of keeping their medical equipment up-to-date and how Philips Technology Maximizer can help.

Key topics explored in the video include the three key elements healthcare leaders look for when it comes to medical equipment, why keeping systems at a certain software level by using solutions such as Philips Technology Maximizer is an important way of providing an equal playing field for professionals and patients, and how Technology Maximizer from Philips helps systems be kept up-to-date and compliant at a fraction of the cost of individual upgrades.

The video features expert input from Pediatric Consultant, David A. Roberson MD FASE, from the Advocate Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Rick Meece ACS RCS RDCS, RCIS, FASE, Cardiac Imaging Specialist at Ascension Saint Thomas Heart West in Nashville, Tennessee and Eric Kruse, Assistant Regional Director of Heart and Vascular Imaging Services at University of Chicago Medicine, together with expert commentary from Clinical Solutions Delivery consultants from Philips Ultrasound.

As Eric Kruse observes:

“Being on the Philips Technology program really helps things from an administrative point of view as I’m not having to independently research; meaning that we work closely with Philips to ensure full transparency of all our systems and, as we see sites continue to grow and offsites continue to develop, we want to make sure we have consistency [not only on our main hub]. Years ago, we didn’t have the capability to match hardware and software but now we can know confidently that Strain and 3D are on all our systems and are readily available and that we can provide that imaging for our patients.

I think in today’s world we need to also be extremely cognizant of what’s going on around us from an IT standpoint. Cybersecurity is a huge risk and so knowing that we have the newest technology for all systems helps us ensure the security of each one of our systems."

…as we see sites/offsites continue to grow, we want to make sure we have consistency. We didn’t have the capability to match hardware and software but now we know confidently that Strain and 3D is on all systems, readily available for our patients.
