Adding the human touch to tech

Philips changed the healthcare experience from prescriptive to personal by turning an uneasy medical room into a stress-free environment with Singapore’s first Ingenia MRI with Ambient Experience at Mount Alvernia Hospital.

As the demand on healthcare systems rapidly increases around the world, so do the requirements for scanning and patient comfort.

With Philips’ Ambient Experience solution, the examination room immediately transformed into a multi-sensorial experience. By softening and removing negative elements, the examination room appears more welcoming and fosters patient-staff dialogue. Patients can play with interactive design elements which draws the attention away from the imaging machines that might otherwise intimidate them.

As a result, patients – especially children, can become more relaxed and clinicians more efficient, facilitating a smoother and faster procedure. With dynamic LED lights, touchscreen panels and thematic video with high quality audio, the Philips Ingenia MRI with Ambient Experience creates a relaxing ambience for all.

The Ingenia system also reduces exam preparation time and offers a more comfortable patient experience. With an integrated, hidden posterior coil, the 70cm bore system enables whole upper body imaging in just two stations and coverage for total body without manipulation of the patient or coil.

"At Philips, we believe in improving people’s lives through meaningful innovations. The introduction of Philips Ingenia MRI with Ambient Experience is Singapore’s first such installation of its kind. By offering solutions to personalize their environment in a hospital, patients can feel more comfortable at each interaction and genuine focus on customer service can be established”
