Rated 2 out of 5 by EnnPee Great Looking Blender with disappointing performance for food processing
Hi, I have been using Philips products for almost 15 years both in Singapore and India and have bought Shavers, food processor / blender / Vacuum Cleaner etc. As my existing Philips food processor model HR7776 went bad just after using for 18 months and Philips service center in Singapore took 15 days to repair, I bought a 2nd unit for backup, Philips HR2163, which has great looks and good specs . We regularly use blender / chopper for preparing batter / spicy mix for preparing soup etc for my children. This Philips model though looked good on specs, really struggled to grind 2 cups of soaked rice and soaked mixed flour, to prepare batter, which only filled less than half of the blender bowl. Blender starting giving totally different sound, a struggling and slowing down sound and batter was not at all grounded well after trying for 20 minutes , stopping in-between to prevent overheating of unit.
Later tried preparing a spice base (using some green chilies / Garlic / Ginger / Coriander seeds) but could not prepare paste either using chopper or main blender Jar. The chopper might be intended for dry powders, but preparing small quantities of thick spicy paste using chopper simply did not work (ingredients simply did not get chopped and grounded) and became hassle on main blender Jar due to small quantity.
So, overall, The Blender / chopper duo did not perform any jobs for our intended use, which we normally would use regularly.
My earlier Philips food processor model HR7776 was good at preparing batter and has been of great use for us, though service could have been better / faster instead of taking 15 full days, though preparing small quantities of spicy mix is till a hassle which Philips could improve on this.
It is important to keep bringing good looking blender models like Philips HR2163, but is also important to make it functional for normal family use.
This model did not work for my purposes and the type of food processing I wanted to use though it might work better for others who might use for blend / chop different kind of food items / fruits etc.
