Supporting primary care for up to 75,000 pregnant women in Africa

In conflict-affected countries, pregnant women experience significant risks that potentially endanger their lives and those of their children. Over half of preventable maternal deaths and deaths in children under five occur in fragile settings of conflict, displacement and natural disasters. Our partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross will support primary health care efforts in Africa, where over the next twelve months the ICRC aims to reach 75,000 pregnant women through 95 ICRC supported primary health care facilities in 8 countries.
