    What is a Bluetooth profile?

    Published on 2017-02-28

When two Bluetooth devices connect, they learn about the protocols that the other device offers. Only devices that share the same protocols can exchange data.

Bluetooth profiles define the type of information that two devices can share:

    • Mono headsets typically use the Headset Profile (HSP) and the Hands-Free Profile (HFP)
    • Stereo headsets typically use the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
