How to clean a Philips Avent Combined Steamer and Blender and fix common issues

To prevent the buildup of food residuals or mold:

• All parts must be separated and cleaned immediately after use
• All parts must be completely dry before assembly after cleaning

Food or mold has built up in parts of the appliance

Immerse the parts in warm soapy water for about half an hour to soften the residuals and remove them using a brush.

Easy fix

There can be several reasons why the steam function does not work (properly):

• There is too much limescale in the water tank. Regularly descale your appliance every 2-4 weeks to prevent buildup.
• After one steaming cycle, the device needs about 10 minutes to cool down until a new steaming cycle can be started. Try again after 10 minutes.
• Make sure you have positioned the jar in the right way (steaming position).

If the Philips Avent Steamer and Blender will not switch on, it may be because:

• The blade unit is blocked, because there is too much food in the jar. Switch off the appliance and process a smaller quantity; Do not let the device blend for more than 30 seconds.
• The jar is in steaming position. Turn the jar upside down and start blending.

If you the jar is leaking, this may be because:

• You might have not assembled the lid properly on the jar. Assemble the lid properly on the jar. 
• There is too much food in the jar. Switch off the appliance and process a smaller quantity.

The sieve may not attached to the lid of the jar. Make sure the sieve is attached to the lid of the jar.

Most commonly, steam escapes the Philips Avent Steamer & Blender water tank because:

• The lid of the filling opening is not closed properly. Close the lid of the filling opening until you hear a clear click.
• The steam outlet is blocked by food or by limescale. Clean the steam outlet with a pointed object without damaging the seal.

This is normal, you need to hold the control dial in blending position to blend. This is a regular safety feature enabling you to control the blending process.

During the first times of use this unpleasant smell is normal. If the appliance continues to give off this smell after you have used it a few times, check if the processing quantity and processing time are correct. Process small quantities and do not let the appliance blend for more than 30 seconds at a time.
