How do I charge my Philips Avent electric breast pump?

    Published on 16 April 2026

See the following instructions for charging your Philips Avent electric breast pump.

Philips Avent Hands-free Wearable Electric Breast Pump

Fully charge the battery before you use the breast pump for the first time and when the battery is low. Fully charging the battery takes up to 2 hours.

Use a power source (an adapter or a power bank) with a USB-C port, of at least 5 W (5 V – 1 A) for your single breast pump or at least 10 W (5 V – 2 A) for your double breast pump. Using a power source with lower specifications might result in slow charging or not charging.

    1. Switch off the device.
    2. Insert the cable connector plug of the USB cable into the motor unit and insert the USB-C plug into a USB power source, e.g. adapter or power bank.
    3. The battery indicator lights flash one by one to indicate that the battery is charging.
    4. All 3 lights are steady on: the battery is fully charged.
    5. Remove the USB cable from the USB power source and pull the cable connector plug out of the motor unit.

    Battery indicator light description

The battery indicator lights show the battery capacity.

    1. Three lights are steady on: the battery is fully charged for approximately 8–10 pumping sessions.
    2. Two lights are steady on: the battery is charged sufficiently for 3–6 sessions.
    3. One light flashes slowly: the battery is charged sufficiently for maximum 1–2 sessions. Charging is needed soon.
    4. First light flashes quickly: the battery is very low, the device will stop operating soon. Charging is needed.

One session is 15 minutes of pumping.

The battery indicator lights will dim. To see the battery status again, simply press the on/off button to see the battery indicator lights for a few seconds.

Note: Only use a 9 W (5 V – 1.8 A) power adapter or other power source with the USB Type-C charging cable that came in the box to charge your pump.

Fully charge the battery before your first pumping session or when the battery is low. It takes up to 1.5 hours to reach a full charge, which is enough power for up to 5 pumping sessions.

When you’re ready to charge, do the following:

    1. Make sure the pump is turned off.
    2. Plug the charging cable into a charging brick or other power source of a suitable power level, and then connect the other end to the motor unit.
    3. Your battery is now charging. The three battery lights on the pump will light up one by one and then turn off to let you know when it is fully charged.
    4. When you're finished charging, unplug the power adapter and disconnect the cable from the motor unit.

Note: Only use the original micro-USB power adapter that came in the box with your pump for charging.

Fully charge the battery before your first pumping session or when it is low. It takes up to 2 hours and 30 minutes for a Philips Avent Single pump or 1 hour and 40 minutes for a Philips Avent Double pump to reach full charge, which is enough power for around three pumping sessions.

When you’re ready to charge, do the following:

    1. Make sure the pump is turned off.
    2. Plug the charging cable into a charging brick or other power source of a suitable power level, then connect the other end to the motor unit.
    3. Your battery is now charging. The three battery lights on the pump will light up one by one and then turn off to let you know when it is fully charged.
    4. When you're finished charging, unplug the power adapter and disconnect the cable from the motor unit.
