I receive too many notifications from my Philips Wireless Doorbell/Spotlight Camera

    Published on 15 March 2024
If you are receiving too many notifications from your Philips Wireless Video Doorbell or Wireless Spotlight Camera, find the ways to reduce them in the article below.

For each camera and each Mode, you can choose the type of Detection. When “All Movement” is selected, you will receive a notification for any form of movement detected by the camera, no matter the nature of this movement. By switching to “AI Detection”, you will only receive notifications for specific detection types that you have selected.

To change the detection type, follow these steps:
    1. Open “Modes” in the app.
    1. Tap “edit” for the Mode you want to configure.
    1. Select a camera.
    1. Tap on “Movement Detection”.
    1. Another screen will open where you can select AI Detection.
    1. Tap the arrow in the top left to go back.
    1. Save your changes.

Note that this also affects event recording: when using AI Detection, only this type of movement will be recorded by the camera. If you still want to record all movements, use one of the options below to reduce notifications.

You can configure which actions are performed when movement is detected, including if a notification is sent. This works for both All Movement and AI Detection.
To turn off notifications after movement has been detected, follow these steps:
    1. Open “Modes” in the app.
    1. Tap on “edit” for the Mode you want to configure.
    1. Select a camera.
    1. Tap on “Movement Detection”; a different screen will open.
    1. Tap below Actions.
    1. Toggle off “Send Notification”.
    1. Tap twice the arrow in the top left to go back.
    1. Save your changes.
By switching off notifications this way, there is still an event recorded, but you will not get a push notification on your phone.

With a Detection Zone, you can define a specific area that you want your device to focus on. Everything happening outside that zone will be ignored, and not trigger a notification.

To set up a Detection Zone, follow these steps:
    1. Go to “Devices” in the app.
    2. Tap “settings” of the camera for which you want to create a Detection Zone.
    3. Go to “Detection”.
    4. Toggle on the Detection Zone.
    5. Tap “Set Detection Zone”.
    6. Drag and resize the blue frame to set the Detection Zone.
    7. Tap on the checkmark to save.
    8. You can now go back; your Detection Zone has been saved.
You can also modify the sensitivity settings of your camera. This is done on the camera level and will affect all Modes.

To change the sensitivity settings, follow these steps:
    1. Go to “Devices” in the app.
    2. Tap “settings” of the camera whose sensitivity you want to adjust.
    3. Go to “Detection”.
    4. Adapt the Movement sensitivity level.
