How to update the firmware of my Philips Key player?

    Published on 2017-03-01
    1. Back up all your files in your Key Ring Audio Player on the computer.

    2. Hook up your player to the computer.

    3. At Start->Programs->Key Audio 256MB or Key Audio 512MB, select Firmware Manager.

    4. If the computer shows “Initializing Firmware Manager” and is unable to initiate the Firmware Manager then disconnect the player, press & hold the PLAY key on the wired remote while connecting the player back to the PC via the USB connector. Hold the PLAY key on the wired remote for another 5 seconds. Release the PLAY key from the remote. The player should now be able to enter the recovery mode. At Start->Programs->Key Audio 256MB or Key Audio 512MB, select Firmware Manager.

    5. In the Firmware Manager, check if the current firmware version of your player is the same as the latest version on http://www.usasupport.philips.com. If not download the latest firmware from the support site, else select your desired language option from the list and click Start to initiate the firmware installation process.

    6. Once the firmware upgrading process is complete, you may click on the removal icon on the task tray to stop and eject the player. When a message saying that the USB device can now be safely removed from the system appears, click OK. In Win98, there is no removal icon. You can remove the player when the animation of the Key Ring Audio player stops.

    7. Now you may unplug the player from your PC. The unit should now have the firmware upgraded.

The information on this page applies to the following models: KEY016/00 , KEY014/00 .
